Hi, I am looking to buy a new laptop, does anyone have any recommendations about the best ones for photography up to about £500 max. Thanks

On that budget, a desktop will be cheaper and maybe even leave you something towards a decent display.
Laptops in that price bracket don't really have displays good enough for photo editing. Unless you start looking at second-hand options, at least.

What laptops would you recommend if the budget was increased. I have a PC which has high spec etc but wanted laptop for travelling.

Macbook Pro!
When I used a PC for editing I also wanted a laptop for travel etc, I looked at lots of laptops but the MacBooks screen was the best by miles so I ended up buying a Macbook Pro... I loved it and the build quality is superb.
It actually converted me and I bought a iMac 5K to go with it

Dell XPS would be my recommendation - I own both a Macbook & XPS. Neither are flawless, but the dell has the better screen. I'd look for one in the Dell Outlet (or a refurb from Apple if you went that route) for a decent price.
