Hi folks, im off to New Brighton at weekend for the Promenade Stages Rally, its going to be the first time out with my new a200.....can't wait, ha!!
Thing is it looks like it will be raining! is there any advice you guys can give me for shooting in the rain, is there anything i need to look out for or things that are a big no,no in rain??

i think there will be some good opertunities because you can get really close to the cars on stage...

Cheers...

Paul...

am definately going to be there on friday night for the signing on/ scruteneering but not decided on the saturday as it a choice of 3 (prom rally/oulton/norasport at 3sisters). as for shooting in rain it just like shooting in the dry apart from trying too keep your kit dry and also making sure ISO settings are right as rain usually mean it will be dark.

I alway use this.
Even took a full over the head wave at perranporth with no lasting damage.

I don't know much about Sony kit, but unless it's weather sealed KEEP IT DRY !

Seriously, it may be fine. But if everything did go pear shaped, water damage is the one thing that they probably wouldn't even consider as a warranty claim.

As shown in Spencer's post above, it doesn't have to be fancy or expensive. Stick it in a Tesco bag if need be.

cheers

I found with my a100 it never got damaged in the rain, even though ive never used anything to protect it...that said bear in mind the lower end Sonys arnt weather sealed and if you did your camera damp..or soggy ( :D) you might b****r up the warrenty..as long as your senisible and dont keep it out for hours at a time you should be fine.
I used to hide mine under my coat/hoody and just pop it out whenever I wanted to shoot something.

Rain drops will appear on the glass, and you might not notice them in the LCD but they'll ruin the shot, periodically check and clean the lens of water.
A few drops wont fry your camera but using a malleable translucent bag and some rubber bands can give you a considerable amount of protection.

Point you camera down to avoid water on lens (this is all I do).
