Hi Everyone,

Apologies for being a newb, but we all have to start somewhere ;).

So here is my situation and what I am looking for and hopefully someone will give me some gems of wisdom to help me on my way.

I have started creating videos and as the web cams I have are pretty much useless, I discovered a means to turn my Android phone into a Web Cam, This has the advantage that I can use digital zoom from inside Fine-Cam software which as well as using normal cameras ( IE not a phone as such ) can use my phone.

So my work involves Electronics mainly, and the videos will be close from say as short at maybe 15cm with no zoom to a few feet and longer away from the subject. The problems I currently encounter is that my phone has a bad habit of not only losing focus when my fingers come into view , but is slow to go back into focus when I pull them out of view when I am working on something and the quality is also not fantastic.

So the basic issue is that I need to get a camera on a budget of probably no more than £400 which will do the following ( And looking at prices I't might be a big ask )

1.) Able to have fast and fixed focus.
2.) Able to shoot fairly good quality video @ 1920*1080 or 4K @ close range as described up to many feet away
3.) Have a VGA output so that I can capture it and edit in my Hit film Software OR OBS studio
4.) Have Sufficient storage to capture say at least 45minutes @ 1920x1080

and if possible
5.)Also behave like a web-cam when I plug into the USB if needed

So, with these parameters in mind, can someone a good enough camera to fulfil my requirements, as for me this is a lot of money, so I dont want to shell out hard earned cash and find I have made a mistake.

Thanks to all who respond

Your main problem will be that non-dedicated 'video' cameras will have their capture time limited to 30 minutes due to import restrictions.

Other than that, I'd recommend sourcing a used Panasonic LX100 MkI which should cover your needs.

The Panasonic GH5 doesn't have a recording limit, but might have to go a little bit over 400 quid for one.
Very well respected camera for video and lots of YouTube content is filmed on it

HI The GH5 seems to be way way way over the £400 as far as I can tell, the only GH5 I see is the camera Body only, but I surely I need the lenses as well ?

Thanks ( And sorry for being so much of a newby here )

WEX have a GH5 in good nick for £509 https://www.wexphotovideo.com/panas...dfd98eee1d8584164573df2de211be2&utm_source=aw
You can pick up a 12-60 lens relatively cheaply which will benefit from dual is
I reckon 400 quid is a bit of a low budget for what you want, better to buy right just once.
