Can anyone recommend software that would capture video & sound from my pc screen?

I do not have a microphone so I need something that will capture the pc’s own sound I’d also like to have at least 720p resolution 25 frames per sec and be able to save as .avi or .mkv

I don’t mind paying for it but I don’t want to pay too much as I’m just wanting to play a little with capturing some on screen action.

Thanks

Which graphics card are you using? some come with capture software bundled. Other than that, my son uses Roxio HD capture Pro USB device for capturing PS3 footage, it'll do PC and xbox too and cost £90 if I remember correctly.

There are loads of free bits of software too but I don't have personal experience of them to be able to recommend any, just be careful when installing any so as not to install a load of toolbars etc that you don't really want.

Thanks for the info I'm not looking to spend that much as I'm just wanting to have a bit of a play capturing stuff. My graphics card is an nvidia GTX 295 but as far as I know it didn't come with any capture software if it did it's long since lost.
I've found some free stuff that will capture the screen but I'm not having any luck getting one that will capture the sound as well they all seem to need a microphone, might have to invest in one of those.
