I want to buy Adobe Photoshop Elements 7, but am getting a laptop in July and I would want it on there as well, without having to buy it twice. Can I buy it now on my desktop PC and then install it on my laptop in July without having to pay extra? Any help greatly appreciated.:)

Just install it, i'm pretty sure theres nothing else you need to do.

I would advise buying Photoshop or Lightroom though, Elements does restrict your flexbility in editing.

Well Lightroom isn't really an editing tool and the full version of Photoshop is very expensive. Photoshop doesn't really do that much more than Elements to be fair. I use Elements and have never wanted for more.

I have a free trial of lightroom at the moment and I think it's amazing, but am only 14 and am saving up for a Canon 50D and 100-400 IS lens and tripod so haven't got the money for lightroom, even though i'd want it. Does it matter whether I buy the disk or the download?

I have Elements 7, CS3 and Lightroom 2 and I have to say Elements is an impressive package.

I have Elements 7.0 on laptop/desktop and it does everything I want / need.

If you need to edit your shots more then you should have taken them properly in the first place.

;) tongue firmly in cheek ;)

The licence seems to be for one installation only:-

Reading through parts of the licence indicates the product will "call home" when connected to the internet so if you have it on two pc's you'll need to be carefull.

I bought a copy on a cd and installed it a couple of months ago, but have yet to register it. I will need to register when I go for updates I expect.

I opened it a short time ago to look for licence info. I was connected to the internet at the time and the program did try to call home, but my firewall blocked it.

if i buy it on a Windows desktop now, will it matter if i get a MacBook or Windows laptop?

If you buy a Windows version, you won't be able to load it onto a Mac ( unless you use parallels or similar). Whilst Adobe will do a once only swop for Photoshop cross platform, they don't offer this for Elements.

As you're 14, then you're without a doubt a full-time student; as such you qualify for the Adobe student discount where you'd be able to get Lightroom 2 for well under £100.

That's for the full version, not a restricted version .. it's priced differently for students, that's all.

thanks for the info about student discounts. i can get lightroom 2 for £90.85. How do i get a swap between Mac and PC?

Have you decided what laptop you are going for? I bought a Vaio last year and it included Elements in the bundle.
