Ok this maybe a daft question but I'll ask anyway :exit:

I've been away from photography now for 18 months and decided recently to sell my old Nikon equipment and get the fujifilm x-t2

My question is, I currently have Lightroom 5 and need to upgrade to latest version so can read my raw files from the X-T2
I was looking at Lightroom 6 but cannot find a link to upgrade my 5 to 6, anybody know where I can find?

I also keep seeing Lightroom CC, is this the latest version ? I don't want to buy the complete version just an upgrade
Adobe web site seems to only have CC and I cannot find how to even upgrade to this version.

Think that's all I'm confused about lol

Lightroom CC is the subscription version. Lightroom 6 should be available but it will be the last standalone version (where you buy the software rather than pay a monthly subscription). The upgrade 5 to 6 should be available on the Adobe website but it was hide away when I did it a few years back.

Have a look here:

You will need to change the type to license upgrade. You will get Lightroom 6 at £64.66 but can't sell your Lightroom 5 version as it's an upgrade purchase,

Recently Adobe have confirmed there won't be any more perpetual license versions of Lightroom software to purchase like in the past. Any future upgrades to Lightroom will now only be available to Lightroom CC subscribers. I think that also means any future camera releases will only be supported in the CC subscription version a bit like you have found with needing to update from Lightroom 5 to Lightroom 6.

That's great many thanks, I couldn't see for looking lol

Is the CC the best way now or am I best sticking with upgraded to 6 option?
Is CC better than 6 or is it a case of annual costs so they get more money?

Monthly cost is around £10 per month unless you buy an annual subscription from somewhere like Amazon where it's usually about £100.

There are some features available in CC that aren't available in Lightroom 6. If you were happy with only using Lightroom 5 previously then you probably won't miss the new features available in Lightroom Classic CC. Photoshop is also included in the CC plan, along with an online Portfolio. Photoshop does make CC good value if you have a use for it. I don't use Photoshop so it was harder for me to justify the CZc subscription. It was the online Adobe portfolio that helped me move to CC subscription as the online portfolio has replaced my zenfolio website. That's saved me £60 a year so CC subscription is effectively £40 (well £9.99 this year as I picked up a copy in the Black Friday sales) for Lightroom the year.

That's very helpful rob, many thanks.

I have a old version of photoshop that's a good few years old and somewhat dated.
Am I correct in saying you say photoshop is included in the cc annual subscription? If so then I think this will be the way I go
I'll just clear my mac of Lightroom 5 and the old photoshop and install the latest versions and then do some learning.

Appreciated your time in your replies, very helpful.

The details of what are included in photography plan:

I've installed CC but left the previous versions of Lightroom installed just in case I ever want it again. I open Lightroom via CC rather than the still installed Lightroom 6 (I've removed the desktop icon but the apple cation is still on the hard drive).
