Ime using bridge to download Panasonic GX8 raw files,i like the way it works but when i view the images none look sharp and i mean very soft,if i transfer one over to ACR i know ACR has a default sharpening it looks great, any ideas if i can sort this.

Thanks

Hi Mike.
I have a problem taking pictures from ACR where they look good, reduced noise etc, put into Photoshop and it is awful, go back to ACR 'overdo' the slider movements open again and all is well, but taking from Bridge to ACR is not a problem all look as they did in Bridge sharp and ready to go into Photoshop.
I know I haven't answered your question so, I have no idea how to sort it!!:exit::nikon:

Mike , I use bridge as my preview software and I know what you mean about the images being soft. The thing is, they're just previews. If you click on them then you'll get a 100% zoom within a small square to inspect that area. Once you open it in ACR or PS, they look as they actually are. The bridge ones are just lower resolution previews for you to quickly scroll through and see which ones really aren't very good. You can then delete those and go through the good ones inspecting the areas you want to be sharp and open the good ones in ACR for your full quality image.

I did try Fastone and i like it even more but i cant find a way to go from Fastone to ACR,if i try going to photoshop it says the pathway does not exist,i guess i need to go open in ACR but i cant find a way to do that.

Does fastone support raw? I've not used it but a quick look seems like it doesn't?

I don't know what you mean about trying to go to Photoshop and getting a pathway does not exist message. Is that from Bridge? I just right click a file in Bridge, click open in ACR then when I've done my adjustments I click open and it opens in PS.

Its from fastone, ime sure i had raw from the Panasonic in it,its when you are in fastone if you add photoshop to the edit in choices then try to send the image to photoshop it says pathway does not exist,i cant recheck at the moment as ime waiting for a new virgin hub so using a dongle now and ime not downloading fastone again on the dongle but will retry later in the week.

There are options in bridge for how it creates the previews. It's on the top menu bar underneath "OUTPUT" & "METADATA" with an icon like a small checker-board with a drop down arrow. You can change it from high quality on demand to always generate high quality previews. You can also go to always generate 100% previews but this really slows it down and the cache ends up very large very fast.

This is with bridge CS6, I'm not certain if earlier versions are the same.

Thanks,i just checked and its on "always high quality".

Thanks every one got it sorted,i was using review mode, while looking at what Kei said i found filmstrip and its just what i wanted.
