Latest version of apples mojave iOS is breaking photoshop, our liquify tool on these machines is now not working, spoke to adobe, they said they are aware and have no eta on a fix, just what you need when your busy. Anyone else got a broken photoshop after this update?

I can use the liquify tool but small black spots appear when I apply effects - I then have to use a layer mask to get rid of them. Does your liquify tool not work at all?

Wondering what the OP uses the liquify tool for. I've only ever used it to make people look thinner (or fatter!)

Apple have previous for releasing updates that breaks software. Around Snow Leopard time they released an update that broke all 32bit audio plugins, causing people to have to upgrade their software to be able to use it. Where no 64bit version was available, the plugins were lost.

One of the key reasons I moved away from Apple!

Do you use the liquify tool on you fashion shots to make them look slimmer?
Is it what the customers demand.?

No, liquify is used to fix the shape of garments that don’t sit quite right, on mannequin or model. Imagine a zip down the front of a jacket that’s not straight for example or a neck line of a tshirt that’s not quite right. Its odd how many people think liquify is only used for changing the shape of people..

The work around is using it but selecting it with the alt key, I think! Although it turns of the pu and makes it so slow it’s almost unsusalbe, it’s unacceptable I think that adobe hasn’t got a timescale for a fix.

I find Mojave excellent, but do not use the liquify tool. Adobe should have tested their software on beta versions of Mojave, unless it bombed on the final release.

I've seen these little dots. at first i thought my 5k screen was busted.
Nope, it’s photoshop, this sort of thing could be a massive issue moving forward, because apples os is closed it is going to be more difficult to update drivers independently. (this issue for example is specific graphic card issue) because everything is heading to the cloud, we pull in the latest software updates for improved functionality etc.

I've also found the liquify tool troublesome on my mac recently. It works fine in the preview but simply doesn't make the adjustment on the layer. Oddly, if i save the file first, then use liquify, it works! Even more strange is that I haven't updated to Mojave!

Shouldn't the garment be adjusted to sit right rather than take a crap shot and fix/fake it in PP?

Not a stupid comment. Either the photographer's too lazy to make sure the garment is sitting correctly on the model/mannequin or the garment simply doesn't hang properly so is potentially bad quality so will be misrepresented to the viewer.

Happily get into a dialogue about this, even teach you a thing or two, for free, once you show me your experience and extensive knowledge in this area, until then there is not really any point , an opinion is one thing calling photographers lazy, or insinuating that it’s being done wrong is just rude.

Is "in too much of a rush" better?

Much like we used pins, safety pins, cloths pegs and selotape in the "old" days. As we could not do much with out digital manipulation.

We still do use this stuff were where samples are simply the wrong size, or need a little help, clothing sizes are all over the place these days, liquify is used for very subtle changes, not complete reshapes, we will not shoot a garment that needs a total reshape and inform the client that what they want is not what they are selling, if they insist that’s how they want it done we usually part company because we end up trying to guesse what the clients wants and that just slows the whole workflow down. One example is a hanger mark in a shoulder, we simply “push” it back into shape.
