Hey people was just wondering if there is a quicker way to add watermarks to a batch of photos without having to do it individually? like is there a batch process option? sorry if its a n00b question, i couldnt find anything appropriate on google and I've just started with GIMP so still a bit lost, so keep it simple ;)

Funny, I was looking into this earlier as I've just acquired a Mac (for work) and haven't got PS anymore. Having had a good surf, it seems that you can create scripts to run against folders, but you have to actually write the code yourself. I got the GIMP manual but haven't had time to read it to figure which commands do what or anything.
Will keep looking for something ready built, and if I find anything (or ever get round to writing one) I'll post back here....

http://registry.gimp.org/node/19288 found this, but it's been a long day and it looks a mixture of double dutch and greek at the moment, might help a bit though

Bingo,
This looks fairly straightforward (ish) but the batch script is reportedly not working on Windows operating systems. When I finish work and satan's hobgoblins are in bed I will have a play and report back on whether I get it working on the Mac. Gotta get something sorted, I manually re-sized, then watermarked 104 photo's of my son's under 11 match on Sunday evening.
The only good thing about the Mac so far is that rather than try and edit the rubbish photos acceptable I bin them instead !

http://iffles.com/2009/11/11/adding-a-watermark-in-gimp-via-a-script/ - Nice tutorial/blog post about using these free scripts http://www.td-e.com/soft/watermark-it.php

If you get it working before me, let me know how you get on...

ahh, I'm on Windows :(

how annoying!

Will have to hunt out some windows script - surely there is a batch process option that doesnt involve coding? does any other freeware make it easy to add numerous watermarks without individual editing?

It seems its a bit flakey on Vista, but no mention of XP, I guess there's no harm in trying it doesn;t look too difficult to get it installed... I'll keep my eyes peeled :-)

I'll give it a go - but I'm on XP so might be a wee bit experimental.

anyone found a simple way to do it yet?? ive been loking but it all involves coding :(
