Hey people, a quick and hopefully pain free question here.

Basically I've nearly setup my website and I've got a backlog of pics from events that I've been meaning to get online so people can see them - however, I don't wish to put anything up online yet until I've added a watermark/signature. So I'd like to know how to do this, but NOT on photoshop. I don;t have it and I definatley cannot afford it for about a year or so! Is there any freeware that is just a simple watermark adder? I'm not looking for anything flash, just a simple program that adds signatures/watermarks/logos even...

I can't seem to find much info that isn't photoshop related :(

Thanks in advance for all your help, and any advice on adding watermarks would be helpful too. If there is no such thing as a free progam that will do this, then please suggest things that are cheaper (much cheaper) than photoshop.

Irfanview?

What image editing software are you using at the moment?

Probably, no definatley in my opinion is Faststone Image Viewer.

Their blurb reads as follows

An image browser, converter and editor that supports all major graphic formats including BMP, JPEG, JPEG 2000, GIF, PNG, PCX, TIFF, WMF, ICO and TGA. It has a nice array of features such as image viewing, management, comparison, red-eye removal, emailing, resizing, cropping, color adjustments, musical slideshow and much more.

and the best thing about it is it's 100% free.

You can get it here

Nice one for the replies, I'm using Picasa at the moment, want to check out Gimp but it seems their website is down, or for some reason I can't get on it.

Now just to design something :s

What sort of marks do all of you have on your pics? Can you post a pic up with a watermark for me?

I think I'm going to put my website name on it, but I want it to be nice to look at, not just some text. Would be interesting to see how you lot have done it :)

Text is all you need for your watermark, as long as you choose an interesting font, and maybe add a shadow to the text, it isnt all that boring. Just be creative without making it the most eye-catching part of the image! :)
