I've mentioned elsewhere that I do a few talking head videos for socials. I use wireless lavaliers for sound. However, this is a bit clunk (I have to mic people up) and it's getting dark in the UK. So I wanted to add a coldshoe to my phone so I can attach either a shotgun mic or a lighting panel.

Are there any good options?

I'm using a Pixel 8 Pro which I have in a magsafe case - what I really want is a magsafe bracket with a cold shoe on. But that seems impossible.

Closest is Shiftcam Pro grip - but that's stupid money because of the battery. I've tried a Smallrig universal cage but that's _enormous_. Anything else I should look at?

You could try one of these

I have a similar one, plenty of hotshoe mounts and 1/4 thread mounts and for around £20 its not a bad price, there are much dearer ones available.
I mounted a cheap phone holder on the bottom of mine just so it would hold a powerbank.

You'll also find once your used to holding it your hand held shots will be a lot smoother than just holding the phone.

Also something like this if you want something a bit smaller.

Smallrig stuff is pretty good, I've got a few of their cages (not for a phone) all are solid and fell well made, the one Scott linked looks good.

Thank you. I agree Smallrig stuff is excellent. I've tried a slightly different (more expensive) version of the cage linked and I just find it too big. I think I want a phone with a light rather than a video system that contains a phone :)

The Ulanzi looks great but sadly there appears to be no sensible way of attaching it to a Pixel 8 Pro.
