Trying to help a friend out - he's been advised to get more exercise - just gentle walking - problem is, he suffers from Cold Weather induced Asthma issues. I offered him a (probably permanent) loan of one of those walking pad treadmills to use for the days it's too cold, or - lets be honest, pishing down with rain.

Took it over there a couple of days ago, and he's just rung me up and said he can't get on with it - apparently he's also got some sort of inner-ear instability that means he needs something to hand onto. The pad I've loaned him basically has none of that - it's jsut one of those long flat things designed to stuff under a sofa/bed when not in use.

So Far he's been making do with putting a dining room chair either side of the pad and holding onto them - but he's wondering if there's anything better out there.

I never really had a problem so never thought about it, but having just spent most of the morning since his call trying to find something, I've come up pretty much blank - other than this one below

which, honestly, is half the price of a new treadmill with handrails attached...

my first thought was looking out for a wide version zimmer-frame on local sale/clearances but I don't quite know how he'd react to the idea :cautious:

anyone else got an idea - it really could do with being relatively compact / foldable as his flat isn't the most spacious - certainly no space for a dedicated gym-room...

My first thought was exactly the same as yours and that a walking frame would be best, they're adjustable, fairly easy and cheap to get a hold of plus there's some foldable versions as well. I appreciate your concern about suggesting the idea though.

I'm struggling to think of anything else though and probably followed a similar search pattern to yourself and found some folding rails the same as you've linked to but they seem absurdly expensive for what they are although I've not managed to find something cheaper.

As an indoor cyclist I wondered about something like a cycling desk but I'm not aware of any that fold and they're clearly not designed to have a person leaning on them:

I came across that very table myself, and had it my my basket for my own Zwifting sessions, only to spot the delivery time was something like 3-7 months... Planet-X are showing them as in stock early february, but at £64 - still a damned sight cheaper than the Wahoo one that they're a knock-off of though!

Just throwing ideas out :)

If you can get the feet under the treadmill? Link

or

If you can look past its intended use Link
Edit - sorry just realised I seem to have missed the zimmer frame part, sorry.

It was the Wahoo one I came across first and thought I must be misreading the price?!
