Yes
How many times have we forgotten to check the iso, focus mode, raw/jpeg save etc? Kind of figure that some catchy little acronym might help out here. I've been thinking about this for a while but cant seem to come up with anything that locks into the brain, so I though, well theres a lot of clever people around here. OK, some may have strange kit cleaning systems or take shots from odd angles, but hey the more brains applied the better the strike rate

^^^ LOL^^^

Or a mnemonic, I think it's called... a phrase to aid memory.

Every Green Bus Drives Fast. A mnemonic to remember which notes fall on the bar lines on the Treble Stave in music

It's not a bad idea but there's a lot of points to cover with a modern DSLR, and the problem can be remembering the mnemonic. :D

Yeah... remember the 6 'P's: Proper Preparation Prevents P*ss-Poor Performance.

Seriously though, I'm hopeless at this sort of thing so I avoid all of that by keeping my camera settings all on manual and at 100 ISO unless for a specific job.
At the end of every job I do a 'Last-Parade' and re-set all the camera settings to my own 'defaults' and re-format all cards etc (after transferring to disk, obviously).
That way when I pick up a camera, I know it's ready to go and I don't have to waste time reformatting etc.

I have to agree with Arkaddy here........always re-set your camera so that it's ready to grab and run. NEVER put your camera to bed without having charged all the batteries, cleared down your cards (making sure you actually put one back into the camera:nuts: ) and put the ISO/shutter/aperture at your favorite "all purpose" settings. It's a lesson you don't want to have to learn the hard way!!!:)

My camera's defaults are set to not take an image without a card inserted.

"II" for Important Information, remembered by the catchy term: eye-eye or aye-aye

I do the same. I set the cameras ISO to 100 or 200.
Then put it in manual, and set it to f8 and 1/125. Then set it to Tv and set 1/125, then put it in Av and set it to f8.
I set exposure back to centre weighted average, shooting mode back to single shot, and focus to AI Servo. Put the battery on charge, and copy the card over. That way I know I'm set to grab and run if need be.

Sometimes I don't do that though, either I forget, or something crops up and I don't get chance, so a mnemonic would be handy I think...either to check before a shoot, or you can run through the same mnemonic at the end of the day while putting the camera away.

To work one out, we need to figure out what settings we need to change.

ISO
Shutter Speed
Aperture
Drive
Focus
Exposure mode
Custom Functions (eg Mirror Lockup etc)
Exposure Compensation
Flash Exposure Compensation

I set every thing back to chosen standards too, wipe the card etc. And I'll probably repeat this process when I pick it up again  ...once burnt and all that.

I know we haven’t built a true list yet Marcel…but this we ditty just came to me, not very good, but hey;

ISO -- Illuminate
Shutter-- Subject
Aperture -- around
Focus -- focal-point

Battery -- because
Card -- continuing is
Flash -- foolish.

 hmmmm.... thats not good is it. lol.

Hehe thats not bad. The one I had in mind was much ruder :p
