Having just spent a few days away and looked for decent, reasonably priced accomodation

First up I recommend

Trafford Hall

Great little place, clean, lovely setting and reasonable price for B&B
Plus some lovely grounds to use for landscape, macro stuff etc.

Plus they ordered us discounted prices for Chester Zoo

I'll add one ...stayed here when 18 or so of us had a weekends photography in GlenCoe earlier this year . Great place ,clean , comfy beds , cracking kitchen & communal dining/get together area , warm rooms , free parking & wifi ......sensibly priced & in a great spot

Hi, liking this idea. I've stopped is a fair few but will start with these two.

YHA Wasdale Hall. Cheap. Tidy. Decent kitchen. On the shore of Wastwater.

YHA Buttermere. Cheap, Tidy and close to Buttermere.
