Accessing a HHD with a OS on it from a USB Caddy

Hi,

My wife's laptop went kaput a few weeks back (motherboard) I have removed the HDD and installed it into a USB caddy. I can access most files from windows explorer, but it won't let me access the user folders. I need to get some things off her desktop so need to browse for them. I'm using windows 10.. anyone any ideas?

You need to take ownership of the folders http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-ta...ll-access-to-files-and-folders-in-windows-10/. You probably need to be logged in with an administrator's account.

Or do it on a computer with windows XP or earlier ... or Linux.
The fake ownership/admin rights to folders just won't rear their ugly heads. Microshaft invented them to mess with your head.
