Is it possible to access the forum from abroad? I have recently been away to two different locations and each time I had difficulty. Problems were as follows:

Within the EU (Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, etc)
No access to the forum via WiFi but OK with my normal sim card using data.

Outside the EU with a different sim (Egypt)
No access to the forum via WiFi. Also no access via a locally purchased sim - using your own UK sim for access is very expensive - I purchased a 30 day sim with 10gb data for 10 Euros.

So when in Egypt I couldn't gain forum access. Is there a way around this?

Thanks as always for your help.

Mick

@Tori_T any suggestions?
My own surmise is that via wifi, chances are it was too slow so was timing out. Via the local Egypt sim, chances are the local internet controls on access may have been blocking (maybe they censor?) or the ip address range is considered dubious.
Without the ip addresses that were used, it's very difficult to investigate.

I don't think it's the WiFi speed. I managed YouTube videos with a little buffering. I presumed it was something to do with tge location and security.

It's not really too much of an issue, but typically my new camera arrived the 1st day of my holiday (so pick it up from my mums tomorrow) and no doubt would have appreciated the search function).

in GC I get IP address banned from some WIFI networks seems hit and miss

We've had a lot of abuse from Egypt in the past, and it was all down to one company. They'd pop up from different IPs on different ISPs and fill TP with multiple pages of Arabic offering to repair your fridge/washing machine/dishwasher/etc.
Took some serious blocking stop them, so not surprising you had problems.

Canary Islands hotel WiFi seems to suffer a lot from wardriving; random people logging into it and spamming without risking their own connections. If we don't have any members normally using an abused IP address, it'll get blocked.

Is it possible to ad me "Mr Bump" to a whitelist?

Thank you. Totally understand about cutting out the areas that create spam, and happy to accept it is what it is!

I use KAMO which is in place to protect me, but have to switch it off if I want to access this site
