Some great places and photos, what is it about these abandoned places that we find so fascinating?

Would love to visit some of these, the old railway in Paris is certainly very doable, only one I have seen in person is the old sea forts

Why do abandoned places interest us? Probably some deep philosophical meaning, the power of nature over man, the ephemeral nature of civilisation [no spell-check, I refuse to spell that with a zed] or perhaps they just make pretty pictures!
