AAH i've lost the bar at the bottom of my screen !

Hi all,

my stepdad has managed to lose the bar at the bottom of our screen (the one with the start menu on). Does anybody know how to get it back ?

He might have just dragged it down so it is not visible, try putting your cursor at the bottom of the screen to see if it is still there.
 
Press your windows key and it shall appear. Then right click it, and untick "Autohide"
 
Its not at the bottom of the screen, what is the windows key ? ive pressed the start menu key and the start menu comes up but thats it ... :thinking:
 
It might not be at the bottom, it can be on any side.

You can drag it around as the feeling takes you
 
Or hold ctrl and press esc to bring up the start menu then right click the header blank area for properties >taskbar to change settings.
 
and move his chair away from the keyboard!

ahhh, urrmmm, has he resized the screen?

Assuming that you've got say a 1024x720 display then setting the screen size to 1600x1200 means that the bar vanishes as its now wayyy off the bottom.

right click on an area of background and select properties
->settings
->Screen Resolution ... is it sensible? Make it smaller?
 
i think i have to do that, so i wont reply for the next 10 mins ish

ie. shut down your PC. Take it downstairs and put it in the freezer overnight.
Open a bottle of Merlot, drink.
Following morning you'll have forgotten all about it :D
 
CTRL-ESC should pop up the start menu
and also give u a clue as to where it is!
(top, left, bottom or right)
 
suggest right click the toolbar and make sure it locked!
