Aaargh!

I wonder if JC's father got lucky on an early easter - dates work quite neatly!!!

I have just seen an advert on TV for,.... brace yourselves,... Balsam Hill Christmas trees!

Yes. I remember a Co-op store manager telling me their Christmas stock started coming in during August ...

That's normal for the larger retailers, going by my stint writing stocktaking systems in the 1970s.

The earlier the orders are placed, the better the discounts the shops receive. I don't know what effect the "Just In Time" mania of the 1990s had on that purchasing pattern.

Since everyone is hell bent on discussing Jesus's birthday,
why is when I stock up for his party a week or so in advance,
that a lot of things are always best before, use by etc the 24th?

Another option is a fly by on the 24th - in the afternoon. If the car park isn't too busy, there can be a load of yellow stickered bargains to be had. Post 25th shopping also sees a load of "festive" stuff at bargain prices.
