Hi All,

I am looking at purchasing a remote shutter release for the A77II for long exposure/night time shots.

I have noted the Sony official RMVPR1 which costs approximately £60.

I am just wondering if any one could recommend something else by a different manufacturer that may be more cost effective/offer more options.

I will be aiming to connect via the multi socket on the A77II.

Many thanks in advance.

What phone have you got? I think the free Sony play memories (or similar daft name) lets you operate the shutter remotely. Worth checking whether that will do what you want.

I usually look on Amazon . I've always had cheap remotes for my sonys and they've generally been fine :)

Will you buy a remote control that costs £60 for example buy giving you more options that the Sony £60 one?

i bought a remote shutter release one that i can accommodate to any camera just with different type of cables including for Sony cameras, so it is my all go remote even i didn't use it yet [soon when i will go out for photography]

You can get radio remote triggers for half that price from Hong Kong which do the half press focus or wake up. That's all I want in a remote release. I've had one for seven years I've used on a variety of Sony Alphas, now my A77. It's now pretty battered, has lost both battery covers, and is held together with tape and rubber bands, but still reliably works at more than 70 metres.

If you can't find one with the multi-socket plug for the A77ii you can get converters from the more generic 2.5mm stereo jack to the multi-socket.

you can them for 10-15quid off ebay, u can get a wireless radio one for that price, or a wired timelapse one with timers and things

the app support is pretty limited on the a77ii, because sony dont care about existing customers :\
