Hey there guys

thank you

Anna

Sorry, I can't offer any advice on an A3 printer but I don't think photobox or colab can really help :D

I had an Epson one and it was excellent. Just be aware that feeding an A3 printer is expensive, in paper and in ink. ;)

i think it comes down to usage, if your going to use it all the time then buy one, if not, use a lab. I rarely print anything bigger than a4, and if i do, i will go with colab, even at work we do very little at A3 on our colour laser, even though the print quality is excellent

:embarrassed:

I'll go learn to read again. :coat:

I thought £250 was the starting price for A3 printers - those things are expensive....

I have the R1800 and it can be an expensive beast to run. The only time I tend to print A3 with it is when I dont have the time to get stuff sent away to be printed else where as I havnt yet found anywhere locally that can do good A3 prints quickly (ie same day\hour)

i've seen an A3 printer for £216 (canon pixma) but i dont know nothing about them so if most people are saying A4 whats the best one for quality? I need a good one as im doing a wedding shoot next year and want it to be top prints.
Thanks for every one who replyed

I regard home inkjet printing as the way to make prints for own use in albums etc. If I was giving (or selling) prints I'd get them printed professionally. The forums has a deal with Colab who are pro printers (though I've never used them myself)

My printer can print a pretty good picture but I hardly ever use it for pictures. Online print services are good cheap and pretty fast....just not worth the effort of home printing.

The beauty of doing your own printing is that you are in total control of your colours. Labs will not always reproduce colours as you saw them on your monitor. It's all down to colour management.

If you are going to print your own images, you'd do well to learn about monitor profiling, ICC profiles and colour spaces. I know many photographers, professional and amateur, who print their own work, especially on fine art papers to ensure archival quality. This is critical if you are selling images. Pigment inks are also a must.

For printing up to A3+, I would recommend the Epson R2400. As others have said, it can be expensive to feed, but it depends how much you value the quality of your work and reputation as a photographer.

Hope this helps.

ok thanks for the help guys i'll go check out the Epson R2400 printer see if i can read up on it

i have an r2400 and its brilliant. if i had alot to print id use photobox but for a print here and there for portfolio, friends, family and the like its excellent. quality on good paper is fantastic. if only i could be as happy about my photos :D

for A4 I yet to see anything print better than my R300/R220's - Cheap and very good quality!

Good quality until the print heads block up on many occasions..;)

I used Epson for many years but due to banding issues with print heads blocking there will be no more Epsons in my house.

Changed to Canon ip4000 for my A4 work and Canon i9950 for my A3 prints.

Sensational results.:)

Busterboy's experience is valid. I have had it it with Epsons especially if you have long lay-offs between prints, however I would still recommend them as the weapon of choice as do a number of artists and photographers that I know.

I have R1800 at present and only issue was feeding of paper but after using an epson cleaning card ( afew quid from computer shop) I have not had this problem return.

I tend to use ICC profile and absolute colometric to get results I want but I know everyone is different as colour matching is a whole issue to itself regardless of printer in use.

I need to get some A3 prints done, and was looking at Photobox. Are they good quality prints? I've got no experience with them, so any feedback would be appreciated

Thanks
