I am after an A3+ printer that does excellent exhibition quality mono. Although I'd ideally like an Epson r2880 I'd be printing only intermittantly as competitions, the odd urgent A3 etc, come around so clogged print heads come to mind without regular use. I'm fairly certain it has to be a Canon Pixma Pro9000 (mk2) or 9500? Anyone suggest anything else, and particualrly can anyone with these printers tell me your opinions on mono, or give any tips to get the best from them?

(I'd also be doing colour too but perhaps less)

all printers will get clogged heads if you leave them for any length of time. if you are only doing it intermittantly then just get them printed from somewhere like DSCL.

Thanks, agreed, but the Epsons particularly seem prone to head clogging.

Hi blackcloud, I have the canon pro 9000 mk2 and I get brill. b&w prints from it. Think canon have a deal on this printer now, worth a look. good luck with your choice

Thanks Kev - that seems to be the way I will go, or possibly the 9500.

POAH - you have your opinion, mine is based on many posts from people with blocked heads and past experience of earlier Epsons. The Epsons are excellent printers but if I can buy a brand that appears less susceptable to it then thats my choice. I use DSCL now.
