I found these links on a non-photo website. They lead to A Year in Pictures, in three parts at the website of the Boston Globe.

Thought-provoking and inspirational by turn, it's easy first to envy the professional news tog, and yet just an image or two further along to shudder at the dreadful and dangerous situations into which they put themselves.
