Often we just forget about the value of the kit we carry around on our backs and go to remote spots to capture that scene or moment. This is a tragic reminder for us to exercise more caution and common sense.

RIP, Lee Phipps. :(

RIP dude - hope they throw the key away for the other to$$er

That's shocking, and it sounds like that guy would be no loss to society at all. :shake:

I'm no slouch when it comes to looking after myself, but this is something I increasingly consider these days when I'm going anywhere alone. Be careful folks - there's some real gene pool rejects out there!

37 convictions?!

We need a "three strikes" rule like they have in parts of the US. If you commit 3 crimes, no matter how trivial, you get life.

I've said it before and no doubt I'll say it again ... far too many scum-bags still out there ...

Take care peeps ... ;)

:p

RIP.

What a waste of life, how sad.

You are joking aren't you?! The 3 strikes rule is insane.

carefull with that can guys!

RIP for the poor fellow.

Umm actually it isn't any three offenses it is three separate felonies. Which means if you commit 3 felonies at one time it doesn't mean life.

Poor guy, why clogg up our jails..I would bring back hanging for such bottomfeeders, we are going to look after him, feed him and educate him in jail and its just too good for him.

RIP

yup, he get 37 chances. the victim don't get a second try, does he?

And not a bad system at all. Unfortunately we don't have felonies any more in this country, but it's a far better system for differentiating between serious and less serious offences.

No, I'm not joking. It would make people think twice before comitting any crime.

Fewer crimes means fewer innocent victims, less strain on the police force, and more space in prisons for those who just can't help themselves.

We should also bring back the death penalty and exercise it on rapists and murderers.

GfK for PM!

This happened only a few miles from my girlfriends house and put simple it shouldnt have, as mentioned the b*****d shouldnt have even been walking the streets, scum like this really do make me want capital punishment brought back - I know many disagree but it really does boil my blood that these crettins are allowed to walk this earth after proving so many times they dont deserve to.

(Just my opinion on these people)

RIP

Words fail me here, The scumbag should be burnt alive until he is totally wasted...PERIOD..:bang:

He did not get life for murder, which means he will be entitled to early release in 2015..... thats just not right

Well if I'm reading the report in the original post correctly the judge recommended he serves a minimum of 22 years which is actually longer than a life sentence. They take these recommendations very seriously as was the case with the train robbers, Brady and Hindley etc.

Sorry CT, speed reading with the usuall results.

It's called the "Habitual Offenders Law" and it dosen't mean mandantory life in prison. However, extended periods of incarceration are generally required when convicted under this law.

In order for the "Habitual Offenders Law" to apply a person must be convicted of a serious criminal offence (felony) on three or more separate occasions.

Some States, such as The Peoples Republic of California, have carried the application of this law a little to far.

You'd think that having 37 previous convictions the police would of done something and this wouldnt of happened in the first place.

RIP and hopefully the murderer will suffer a long time i prison.

Whats the betting he gets let out in 2 years for good behaviour.

King.

rip dude

:'(

Very sad and a sign of the times i'm afraid.

The amount of scumbags out there just seems to be on the rise all the time and the police are powerless because of the CPS making decisions on who should be made an example of and how many particular types of crime they need to hit thier targets in certain areas ......... shocking really :( :(

I still find myself agreeing with GfK on this (a rarity in itself). Harsher custodial sentencing - who cares if they're re-habilitated? They're inside and away from decent people...

very sad :( rip

It is ALWAYS sad when a life is lost for such a terrible reason.

Would be great if we really could lock up characters like this one in a very deep disused mine shaft!!

There are times when I find myself in a bit of a dilemma about arguing for or against the death penalty.

Having photographed violent crime scenes since 1992 I also have a fair idea what the relatives go through BUT THIS WE KNOW....

There is another day of reckoning when 20 clever lawyers will simply not help
