I ordered a photobook from them of images from the wedding I shot last week, intended as a sampler from which folk could order prints for themselves if they wished. The book arrived today and looks to be very nice quality but some of the images were badly misaligned. In particular two images on different pages have cut most of the heads off the main subjects (one the groom maikng his speech). Online all looks fine so something or someone must have gone wrong in the printing stage.

I've asked them to reprint the book, making sure those images are ok this time and I reckon it will be a good test of their customer service to see if they will be willing.

watch this space.

This actually seems to be a fairly common problem with Photobox' photo books - I've had this happen thrice, twice messed up text (all on top of itself) and once as you describe, misaligned images.

Every time I've had them reprinted, no quibbles, and they've then been fine.
Two out of those three times I've gone "aaaaahhh I'm in a rush and this photo book is no good!", so on those two occasions they've delivered them by DHL express as opposed to Royal Mail. Just to make sure they get to me ASAP.

I would be highly surprised if they weren't very apologetic and got you sorted!

Steep, what do you think of the actual print quality, as in the screen of the dots is it High quality as in top end magazine stuff?? I had some books done with my publisher and I didn't rate them much, as the screen apperaed to be very course for want of a better word.

we've had several reprints from Photobox, all with no quibble....but it is a bit worrying that the consistency of printing differs from book to book.

The first book we had done was perfect but since they've got busy.....

I will still use them though, £20 for a book full of images is still good value and their service is second to none :)

Glen I didn't look 'critically' at the print quality and can't for the moment as the book is doing the rounds but overall I'd say quality is very high. The pages are fairly heavyweight with no image bleed through from underneath that I noticed. The book is almost good enough to do service as an actual wedding album and the only thing really holding it back is the lack of control over image size/position when you are setting the book up on photobox. They are making improvements there though, supposedly working to add a zoom function.

So far so good, got a mail asking me to confirm which images and saying they would reprint.

Bah! so far they have failed miserably. I had heard nothing from them since they agreed to reprint the book so I emailed asking what was happening.
I got an email in reply the next day thanking me for my order and charging me full price for another photobook! That was yesterday, I fired off a very snippy reply saying how dare you etc and don't you dare etc. I've had two automated stylee replies to that one but nothing else as yet. My bank don't apply charges over a weekend so I won't know till monday or tuesday wether they have actually tried to charge me for it.

Thats very shoddy service mate. Looks like you've become victim to the automated ordering culture.

Keep us informed with what they say.
Can you not ring them?

Got a reply from them just now. Apparently what they have done is refund the original book and reprinted/charged for the new one at no further charge to me. Could have saved themselves and me a bit of hassle if they had made this clear in the first place but at least there's (hopefully) a happy end in sight.

Failed again! :(

The new book has exactly the same errors as the original, I reckon their system just isn't up to the challenge in this case.

Can you not phone them? I find email and the lack of human conversation can account for a hell of alot of things these days. Like you say, their system probably isn't up to the challenge that order discrepancies throw up.

For them to just basically ignore your requests and put the order through is :bonk:

To be honest Marcel, it's just not worth it for a £20 book. I know their service and quality is good on other things so I'll stick to them in future.

Really sucks that they didn't manage to get you a satisfactory book. I used them for the first time for a photobook last week and luckily that came out really well.

Think it might have put me off now.....I use them all the time for prints and no problems...

Anyway I'm still trying to sort out how you make up the book of pics....thinks I must be losing my marbles:bang:

If and when they update their web software to let you resize images properly then it will probably work better.
