The Ireland Network-Great Britain is looking for photos that capture the life of Irish people or their influence in Britain. This is your chance to explore this subject in all its facets and show the world.

Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals will be presented by the Irish Ambassador at the Irish Embassy in London on 27th January 2010.

All qualifying entries will be published on IN-GB.co.uk and in the Irish Post newspaper. A selection of entries will form part of an exhibition at the Irish Centre in Camden during February 2010.

Please visit www.in-gb.co.uk/snapshotfor information on how to enter the competition and to view the competition rules.

The competition starts on 1st November 2009 and the closing date for entries is 1st December 2009. Winners will be announced in December 2009.

The competition will be judged by one of Ireland’s foremost photographers David Creedon. David has been described as “Cork’s Vermeer” and his work has been likened to poems in photographs. He has recently been nominated for the 2010 Deutsche Börse photography prize.

Hmm not great Ts & Cs

IN-GB reserves the right to use, as it sees fit, copies of any images submitted for the competition, for publicity and/or promotional activity in the interest of IN-GB.

By submitting the photos, you provide IN-GB with a perpetual irrevocable royalty-free licence to use the photograph. Any entrants not complying with these rules will have their entries disqualified
If your photograph contains a person who can be identified, you must have their express consent for their image to be used.

Looks like a difficult remit unless you're mixing with the Irish community or are willing to do a bit of research on Irish influence side of things and go out for a very specific shoot.

Looks like it's a rights grab. Removing details and link.
We don't promote competitions that have such rights grabbing terms in their conditions.

Not that difficult in Glasgow, tbh, although I suspect those running the competition are looking for positive images....

Hi there,

Thanks for the feedback.

We are now going to revise the T&Cs and make them available via a web page. We did not mean for this competition to be a rights grab and we are aiming to comply with the photography Bill of Rights http://www.pro-imaging.org/content/view/177/132/

Should be changed soon!

Frank

That's great news :)
Once the T&C's have been changed, please feel free to edit the link into the original post, removing the staff message :)

Regards
