Before shooting with Sony, I used Olympus cameras.
I bought a cheap EM10 with the 14-42 kit lens and an Olympus 9-18mm back in 2016 - a nice small setup for a trip to the Lake District.
While taking shots at Ashness Bridge, I changed to the 9-18 for a wider view.
Once I got my shot, I noticed that my camera bag had tipped and there was no sign of the 14-42, then I noticed bubbles rising from the water.
The lens had rolled out and was submerged in the river.
It was full of water!!
I poured out the water and when I got back home I put it in the airing cupboard.
I totally forgot about it until my wife came across it a year later.
At this time, we were told we were to be Grandparents for the first time.
My step-son mentioned that he was looking for a camera to take photos of the baby.
I gave him the EM10 but he preferred taking shots with his phone so the camera lay in his cupboard until recently.
He asked if I wanted it back so obviously I said yes.
On the way home, we took a detour along Aberdeen Beach and I took a quick shot with the camera and 14-42 lens (in JPEG)
After all the lens had been through over the years, I was really surprised that it still worked.
Here is the shot I took - not bad for a once water filled kit lens ;)

See Mike, they always say 'it's the photographer, not the equipment'.

Nice read a super happy ending with stunning photo to boot!

I'm guessing that the fact that it was a new lens may have meant that the internal surfaces were still relatively well-protected. The moving surfaces, at least. Great that it is still alive!
