A scam that wasn’t

I had an email saying my camera insurance renewal didn’t go through. So first thought “scam”. Not had this before that I remember. Now Eversure insurance co phone number was not easily found as they are mainly an on-line contact company. However I did find a phone number and rang them. The credit card will run out of date end of this month so they needed the new number which was the same, just the security code altered
Could have done this on line, but giving out credit card information can be dodgy to say the least

....... and?

You renewed your insurance. Well done.
Yes I have had all my camera gear insured through them for many years. Even once made a claim wthout any problems. I have no financial conections apart from being a happy customer

I hope they transferred you to the non recorded line before taking cc details.

You're right to be cautious, but in some cases online can be safer for credit cards than a phone call. Companies don't always secure their voice logs to banking standards.

If a scammer decides to target your financies no way is perfectly safe. Easier for them I suppose to read emails than a chat over a phone line, recorded or not

Harder to extract a number from a proper online form.
