Speaking as an amateur meteorologist as well as a cartoonist, not only the general newspaper media get on my nerves with their endless over the top weather headlines, one such "paper" decided to drop a long running cartoon favourite "Beau Peep".

So, it seems that real talent are being pushed away in favour of mindless reality shows drivel. Although, apparently newspapers are struggling in terms of sales so dropping the daily cartoon strips is being seen as a cost cutting exercise.

A sad day for the doodling industry, but I do like the idea of newspapers struggling anyway as they are proving to be toxic in terms of contributing to the modern world.

Really? you don't believe there'll be several inches of snow "down here" before the year is out then? :D
 
Don't worry, the instagram zombies will provide all the content MSM needs. Or so they think...

Living on the south coast of Kentshire, I've still yet to experience my first grass frost of the season. Even last night and into this morning was frost-free, but I did appreciate the fine sunny skies.

And the good news is that high pressure will remain stuck fast over the UK for at least the next seven days thus keeping the dry and settled theme going for a good while, but on the cool side with varied cloud and fog amounts. Quite a different look on past Autumns when we usually get to experience wind and rain on a regular basis by now (although Angus did shake things up at this end last week).

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand bringing this back on topic. It was where I used to look forward to the daily "jokes" somewhere at the beginning part of the paper, then the political satire and then the comic strips. Most of them are gone now. However, I have to remind myself that it's all shifted over to the internet so I'm hardly going to be short of fresh material to look at anyway.
The only reason why I'm continuing to buy the newspapers is for my elderly mother, gives her something to read.
 
I still love The Far Side.
A yank, I know, but Larson's cartoons have had me in fits of giggles often. :-)
