 I came across this site through a good Googling session and am well impressed!

I am interested in photography -- well I think I am -- well some days more than others!!!! Some times I enjoy the fiddling around with the photos more than actually taking them. So does that make me weird

My main problems with photography are twofold

Firstly my health means I have difficulty with walking and my favorite photos used to be landscapes and wandering around towns/villages taking architectural shots.

Secondly I had to take early retirement from work and so am on a very limited budget for everything which doesn't usually go hand in hand with having photography as a hobby. :(

I used to own SLR film cameras when I was young but can only yearn for one now :(

So if I am still allowed to stay in the group as an unhealthy senior, with a compact camera and photography being a now and again hobby I will

Thanks ManxMaid I am reading lots and looking really really good.

welcome to TP fella- lots of Devon folk on here ( Im in Somerset so I guess we're neighbours)

Les

Hi Lez

Indeed you are a close neighbour

I did live in Somerset for a year or so but not keen on the actual place/town but there was a good reason for my being there

PS Your shots on flickr are really good and I have saved the link as it makes me realise the vast range of pictures that can be taken. Taunton, Wells and the levels all places I frequented when I lived in somerset. Also Yeovil, Sherborne with its photogenic abbey, Glastenbury and not forgetting, my wife, Clarke's Shopping Village at Street

Get yourself another film SLR if you 're tight money wise and enjoy film a good canon eos is less that £30 now or olympus om10 etc.

And welcome of course.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes.

My good news is we won a small Lottery prize last week and my new budget is £400 so looking at entry level DLSR. Canon EOS 1100D or Nikon D3100.

New, not second hand, as my wife is very anti that route and I am 'under the thumb'

Welcome. It's well worth considering second hand. Google mpb photographic (advertiser on here). Very good stuff at keen prices. It'll help you stretch your budget.
And you've a great location for landscapes. If you couldn't walk far perhaps you could consider one of those windows mounts for your camera, or a big bean bag.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing some images. Cheers
