A new Bridge.....

Hi all,

Im in the process of buying a new 'Bridge' camera - for those of you who dont know, because Im bound to be asked, its the style of camera between a compact and full DSLR.

Ive had the fuji S100FS before which has served me well and infact taught me everything I know, but now Im after a new one. It will be used for hols and things where taking a DSLR would be a pain in the proverbial.

Im tempted to get the fuji HS10 with its 720mm zoom, but its only a 10mp sensor.

Any suggestions as to what to get?

I have had a play with the HS10, and it is vastly superior to the S9600 I have and also the S100FS.

The 10 MP sensor is not a bad thing, you don't really need that many pixels unless you are doing alot of cropping or printing really big. Seeing as the HS10 has a massive optical zoom, hopefully you can crop your shots as you want them, and the printing thing, well if you need to print that big use the 50d!

Lots of people ar going for panasonic or Canon briges, however, I couldn't go back to a motorized zoom.

The fujishop are doing a refurb for £260 IIR.

I've just bought the Panosonic FZ45 but its gone away as its my xmas present off the wife,this is my 1st big expensive camera as i'm wanting to get into photography.I've only had small compacts in the past and saw this one on QVC but they wanted £320 for it so i went on Amazon and bought it direct from them for £261.I once bought a 2nd hand SLR but couldn't really get into the apeture and light settins so this is why i gone for a bridge.
I've read lots of reviews on this camera and like all cameras there are always bad ones as well as goods ones,its what ever you are comfy and happy with.
Will post again in the new year with my verdict after playing with it.

i just got a fuji hs10, as ive had to sell most of my dslr gear due to lack of work at the moment

i got it from ARGOS for £260.

however, its not bad, this is the first bird shot i took with it from 30ft away on full zoom, only cropped a tiny bit, also shot in RAW with a touch of processing...

and another random shot.. glass ceiling light from 10ft and zoomed in.

Thats the kind of results i'm hoping with mine
