A little help with this photo please

Id be really grateful if someone could give me a hand with this. A friend has asked if i can do anything with this photo. The photo is not the best of quality, but they really like it - especially the lion on the left. I am very new to PP and the problem is anything i do seems to make the photo grainier.

Any help, thoughts or suggestions would be gratefully received,

Had a quick edit, up the saturation, contrast, lowered brightness, cloned the tree branches out, and cropped, and other bits of cloning

Another bash in LR4 just 'cos I'm playing with it at the moment. I'm very jealous of your friend!

Contrast mask applied in PS to clear through the dust, cloned out the branches (rough attempt) and added some saturation boost, and of course a crop of the foreground.
