Yes
OK, 23 years ago, I had a motorbike smash, and spent 2 years getting my leg sorted, and in that time, I met Kate, a nurse who is now my wife (you know the sort of stuff - Handsome-but-desperate male patient meets young nurse and feels sorry for her etc..)
As a result of that accident, I have just been back in hospital for a further operation, and there were plenty of jibes about who I might meet this time - a second wife maybe..? (clearly, I am still handsome and desirable, and you'll need to take my word on that one...)
So, after the op, I was wheeled into the recovery room to sleep off the anaesthetic and enjoy the hallucinations and the first face I see is Carole, my previous grilfriend, who I have not seen for 24 years, and who was not a nurse back then...........!!!
How scary was that - clearly she had worked out that being a nurse might mean you get to meet the best blokes, so we chatted for a while till she wheeled me back to my ward, just missing Kate who was in the waiting room but appeared 3 minutes later !

Now wondering just who will pop up when I get my plaster removed in a few weeks time.....

I hope Kate and your Ex are friends. My wife doesnt like the idea of me meeting with old flames even if its coincidental!
or at least i hope your wife will see the funny side to it and all is well.

They have never met, and I doubt they will...
Sad to say, that while time has been cruel to me, Carole is a beautiful as she was at 16 and 25....
Mind you, so is Kate..!

I'm a male nurse, with a nice big beard.........*

*only joking!! :D

Strangly, both Kate and Carole have big beards too..
Happily, neither is male, or at last encounter..

Somewhat unrelated, but (if you don't mind me asking) why did you need another operation after 23 years?

Or is it one of these things that you need regularly every 2 or 3 years?

Just curious, thats all :)

I badly broke my lower leg, lost a lot of bone, and it was touch and go if I was going to keep my foot for 16 months. When it healed, the blood flow to my ankle was reduced and it is an area that is prone to bad circulation in all of us anyway.
Seems that the lack of blood plus various other stuff meant that my ankle started to crumble, with flakes of bone getting into the joint causing so much pain that at times I could not walk, and for the last few years I have lived on painkillers and alcohol to keep it at bay. It was only going to get worse, so has now been fused, meaning that the joint has been cut back, all cartilidge removed, and then screwed together. Over the next few months, new bone will grow over it all making it one, so it won't move again. However, despite being only out of hospital for a few days, and having been warned that I may get 'phantom pain' for up to a year, I am already in much less pain but cannot walk or even stand for more than a few moments at a time - adopting a lady-like stance for having a wee even. I am taking less pain refief than normal, and just finding it boring at present..!

Just got to sort out the rest of me now....
