I have some large collections of holiday snaps family ect, I would like to create a DVD slide show with all the bells and whistles music transitions and the like. I know there is a multitude of programs out there but thought some advice from those that use the software would be better. Do any of you use such things and if so what is the best one to go for?

If you are on a Mac then both iDVD and iMovie will do that for you. I've used both and they work very well. They come as part of the installed iLife package

For PC you could use Adobe Premier Elements as an alternative for iMovie, and DVD Photo slide show for the PC. Not used DVD Photo slide show but have used Premier Elements and it's fairly easy and intuitive to use, although I prefer iMovie

Another vote for ProShow Gold (assuming this is the same as GoldShow Pro??).
If not Pics2exe is a popular choice.

Proshow gold user here too easy to use great output on tv screens etc

Thanks for all the recomendations I am running PC so the Goldshow Pro looks good had a look at their website.
