I'm not sure where this actually should go so please move if it's in the wrong spot...

Just thought I'd let you lot know, if you don't already, that Practical Photography are doing a 6 part mini guide for people relatively new to the DSLR world.

The series looks promising so far. The first issue is basically learning what most of the modes do, how the parts of the camera work, about lenses, and basic problems.

Other issues are going to cover exposure, composition, lighting, and processing.

They're also giving people the chance to complete little challenges and have their images critiqued on the website. The best pics have the chance to win a Nikon D40 and various other bits and bobs.

I know that most people on here might be too advanced for stuff like this but for people like me who've just started really exploring the range of their cameras it does seem really helpfull.

Thanks for the reminder. I picked up the issue with part 1 in it and liked the sound of it. Is the next issue out yet?

I'm in the same boat re experience and I've taken advantage of the special 5 issues for £10 subscription to cover the mini guide/course issues.

i think it is out on the 18th

Anything to help a learning curve go up, I enjoy the magazine and the course look's good.

Saturday Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph are supposed to have some CD or DVDs on photography this weekend

How to Photograph a different topic each day. The way advert refers to 'How To Photograph Absolutely Everything' made me wonder if the two topics they refer to are taken out of the same book by Tom Ang.

Bought the second part of this series today, had a quick flick through and looks like some useful info there. Slightly disappointed however that it wasn't in the same "little book" style like the first, rather than part of the actual magazine.
