Ahhhhh... art.

For me, 99% of those were very dull. I liked one of Piotr's images, but for me they don't do a thing. They're just pictures of stuff, usually mundane objects, captured because they look a bit worn out....

But then I didn't get the photo of 2 blue buckets which is apparently art, so who knows.

I thought there were some cracking shots in there which really grabbed me (Keith Hayes' half ruined house on page 16/17, the skateboarder p12, the comfort break p19, satellites p24, subway train p36, reflections p52). There were other shots which really intrigued me and made me think of unintended stories which have been captured by the photographers (ladders on a wall p21, evening suited gent by the beach p30, man peering through hole in wall p32, car security p42)...

All in all, a very enjoyable read through but for me personally about half the pictures didn't grab me - which is actually quite a decent hit rate I think.

That proves that they've done a good job of selection because I'm sure more than 99% of pictures on the internets are very dull. :D

I'm more than willing to admit it's my ignorance/taste that prevents me from liking them... But a lot of them are, to me, just standard shots of banal street scenes.
I even like some artsy stuff, I'm not all about landscapes and wildlife shot - but I prefer the style of photos in F11 mag, e.g. http://issuu.com/f11magazine/docs/issue39-decemberjanuary2015?e=3147757/10362024 - Page 29 or 35 for example

Having said all that - I realise this post was to point people to the mag, not critique it ;)
 
I subscribed as soon as I saw this thread because I wanted to see how it panned out. I've had a quick look at the photographs but I'm going to set some time aside to have a good look at them.

As an aside, what means more, the photograph or the meaning behind the photograph?
