Against my better judgement I employed a well established local firm of roofers to replace the flat roof with a conventional roof on my garage to bedroom conversion, this is the mess they made.
Needless to say they were chased off the job penniless and made to pay for replacement roof trusses which they cut too short, and temporary weatherproofing.
I did the job myself, correctly.

Wow that is bad workmanship, nice to hear you chased them without paying a penny :).

thats dreadfull galaxy, i hate getting tradesmen in because without being recommended by a friend etc you can end up with some nomark ****stains who arnt upto the job.

my roof on my extension is leaking and i dont have any companys recommended to me, so im gonna have to play the yellow pages lottery, id prefer to do it myself but!

Go to the library, google roofing, have a word with the local building inspector, they are usually very helpfull.
Only as last resort get roofers in, it really is a lottery, lots of cowboys in that business.
I have the impression from your posts that you are fairly competent with diy, so find out what you have to do and how to do it and have a go.
Is it a flat roof, tiled roof or slate roof?.
I had never done slating before so just did a google bought a good book on the subject and now have hip roof fully slated and better than most roofers would have done.
If you are good at diy it is easy when you know how.

What a total bodge-up Glad you got sorted in the end though

Well done for getting the 'builders' to cough up the money to get it sorted m8.

Tbh its not that hard to do, just time consuming.

well i did get someone in to do the work, recommended by someone at work whos building an extention himself and doing most of the work, they seem to have done a good job, at a price alot cheaper than i was expecting, left the yard nice and clean (they even brushed the yard and put everthing neat (not even i do that).

so now i can get on with the bathroom refit :) ****ing building regulations!

Aww man, that is well bad. But i am glade that you came out of it okay with the fee's and what not.

I hope you gave them a right ear full aswell. They shouldn't be doing that to people.

Tony

That is the difference between a Time served apprenticed
Joiner and the now so called three month state trained wonders they call joiners today. It makes my blood boil to think i spent 5 years to train and people like this call themselves ......builders....God help us all. By the way you did yourself a favour getting rid of them, and i have a good idea who they are.
