I have just set up a flickr account, put a few pics on it and before you know it have used up my monthly allowance. So I thought I would upgrade to the no limit account but when I looked into it I have to pay in dollars - 'about £15' it says. So my question is, have all you guys n gals on flickr done this ? Am I likely to get hit with any charges for paying by USD's ? Sorry if this sounds a daft question but just wanted to check before jumping in with both my size 10's!!!!

Cheers All

Paul

I've done this. It's easy and as cheap is you think it is. $24 for a year is peanuts, less than a quid a month!

how many's "a few" ? i've got some on mine and haven't exceeded the limit

are you resizing them before uploading ?

looking at my reply i haven't really helped you have i ? sorry

I've survived for years with the bog standard account. Are you uploading massive TIFFs or something?

You wont get hit with any charges for paying in USD, or you might but it is all worked into the price it really is about £15.

Thanks for the quick replies, looks like I will be going for it

Kev and Mrgas - 'a few'..... well 49 to be exact but I just got carried away !!
Dont know how to resize pics, they were all around 2mb straight from my laptop. I've got loads more to put on and cant wait for next month's allowance to kick in !!

If you're on BTInternet, you get a free Pro account anyway, if anyone's interested. That's the only reason I'm still paying my £24 a month to BT.

With a standard account you only get 100MB upload limit per month I think, and only the newest 200 photos are visible to the public. Correct me if I'm wrong.

With a Pro account you get unlimited upload limit per month and all photos are visible.

I just bought a pro account few weeks ago and it was £15.67 I think.

I'm gunna sign up for a pro account when I get out of hospital.

You need to sign up with your BT email address.:)

I've recently changed my broadband to BT, and set up a new flickr account with my @btintenet.com e-mail, but I never got a pro account.

Anyone know why this happened?

I always 'save for web' in PS before I upload them to flickr.

This way every photo is compressed but little if no quality is lost to the image. Each photo is compressed to 160KB.

There is a tutorial on this here forum how to do it. Dead simple and no need to pay for pro account IMO.

For those who have a bt email address and use it for a pro account, you can set another email up as your primary email so you get flickr emails sent there instead.

I do exactly that, I never check my bt email so all flickr emails get sent to my gmail. you doo need to leave the bt email addy associated to it though otherwise you'll loose the pro privaledges.
