About a year ago I had a couple of compact cameras converted to full spectrum infrared; a Nikon Coolpix 5400 and a Canon Powershot S50. They were lying around unused and the conversion has given them a new lease of life. here are just a few of the pictured from them.

Nice shots. I especially like 5, although the horizon looks a bit wonky to me (might be my work monitor, but it looks like it's tilted about 5-10 degrees anti-clockwise?).

Can I ask how much you paid for the conversion, and who did them?

I bought the Nikon Coolpix5400 from InfraReady and then sent my Canon Powershot s50 to the same place to be converted. The conversion cost me £50; and the Canon gives much better results than the Nikon does.

To really get the best out of IR you should be able to fit different filters to the camera; the above were shot with 670nm and 830nm filters fitted.

I searched the internet and found a filter adapter for the Canon; for the Nikon I got some round filters from Infraready which I filed down so they were a tight fit in the lens. How do I get them out? I bought some rubber suction cups off eBay.

Thanks for that. I've got a old Canon Powershot (A520 I think) that I might get converted.
