A Female's perspective...

Is he? I just hope he's not still being paid - or if he is, that his wages are being held for him if he's found not guilty.
I didn't mean he's still a policeman now but at the time of the murder. But what if he's found not guilty?
Surely he'll be suspended until the trial then appropriate action taken based on the result of the trial, including reinstatement if found not guilty?

The banter. ;)
I've tried posting in other parts of the forum, but don't get any response. I just figured Out of Focus was where everyone resides. ;)

Haven't you got any actual friends to annoy with your bantz, probably not if you behaviour here is anything to go by.
Spoke to me the way you do people on here and I wouldn't be laughing

Careful - he's (allegedly) a big butch gym bunny body builder.

My dad was a prison officer/Governor for nearly 40 years.
2 of my uncles were policemen and 2 of my cousins too. One is a retired Chief Constable, so I was brought up to respect the police and authority etc.
I was shocked when I heard about the murder of Sarah Everard, but horrified when I found out her murderer was a policeman, not because I thought it meant anything negative towards the police in general, but because you expect police officers to be upholding the law more so than anyone else I feel.
I get that he's a murderer that happens to be a policeman, but he's still a policeman....

Maybe it's the way your mind works, mine too. I wasn't really shocked and I just don't see the shock and horror in the fact that a policeman has committed this awful act and I'm certainly not going to extrapolate. He's after all still human and no amount of filters and psychological profiling and coinciding and training is going to completely eliminate all crime from that profession. I can see the shock factor if it's someone you knew and didn't see it coming but other than that, it's a tragic and terrible personal tragedy.

He did take photos recently at his work circuit of some race team or something....not that we got to see them :)
I posted some last September, The most recent ones, I was asked, by the team manager, not to post them anywhere on the internet for a few reasons, one of which was that driver announcements hadn't been confirmed.

I treat as I find. ;)

Maybe shocked and horrified are a bit strong....
I should possibly have said saddened to hear of her murder and surprised to find out her murderer was a serving police officer....
Her death struck a chord with me because Sarah Everard was the same age as my daughter.
My daughter lives on her own in Portugal, and as parents we do worry about her, particularly when walking home alone.
She always says "don't worry, over here there's always plenty of police about"....

Our daughter lives on her own too thankfully not in London, but in a small friendly village.
We still worry obviously, but we moved from the east end when she was little to give her a better chance in life.
Day we moved two blokes had their throats cut and one died about 800 yds away just for taking the p*** out of someone.
My missus remembers being touched inappropriately on the crowded tube, not been safe for many years.

I beg to differ, Basildon and surrounding areas are full of them, Tories and West Ham fans.
Basildon became predominantly Labour from 97. It was only after it was split in two and each amalgamated with other areas to make "new" constituencies that they became Tory again.
As West Ham is the nearest big club in the area, it's kind of natural for people to follow that team. :)

In my innocence I'd probably trust the police here in the UK more than anywhere else. At least the majority here aren't armed, so there's that.

Mrs WW has a bit of an issue with the police as they're apparently not generally trusted in Thailand. If I knew any policemen (gender neutral term) now I'd be happy to run into them in uniform just to get her more accustomed and more trusting. Sadly during the time she's been here the amount of times we've seen police out and about on foot has reduced to just about zero. We did see some at the seaside the other day but I didn't want to approach them in case we got a lecture on social distancing.

It was funny to you, but no doubt making monkey noises at Black footballers would be too.
DJ's fondling young women on TOTP was ok, just a bit of healthy fun and all a joke.

Sad little man if you think its just a laugh and acceptable.
Ask any woman who has been groped well assaulted actually on the tube if its just a game
That's were you are quite wrong and not what we were talking about.;)

Perhaps bully would be a better description, vile old git who thinks its funny to abuse and belittle people.

He probably thinks he is doing nothing wrong. He is from a time when people could speak to others like that, and it was seen as the norm.
His kind of views and thoughts belong to the old days, and he should leave them there.

There are several posts relating to the utterences of the Duke of Edinburgh and I chose two to highlight the alternative views. First off, I was in the camp of those who view him as Rich (Tijuana taxi) does. I found him to be rude, blunt and unnecessarily offensive . Infact Rich uses the word bully which is exactly the description used in an article I posted a day or so ago regarding the upbringing of Prince Charles. The Duke was described as being forceful and bullying.

I recall two incidents. Both many years ago so I'm vague on the detail of the first one but he was visiting somewhere like a hospice and was walking along a pathway and noticed something in the flower bed that was put there and poked it with his umbrella saying to the member of staff who was accompanying him "What's this, then ?" I recall my wife saying "How rude" I think many will recall the other incident. How he 'laid' flowers down outside Buckingham Palace at the time of Princess Diana's death. He leaned foreward and launched /lobbed them onto the many, many bouquets there were. Once again,my wife commented. I thought, maybe he had a back problem and was unable to reach down..like they do at the cenotaph at the annual Remembrance service but on the other hand I thought..how disrespectful.

A couple of days ago I posted a list of quotes regarding comments made by the Duke of Edinburgh which were of a racial tone. On a visit to Africa asking a besuited African official "Do you still throw spears at each other ?". To a tribeswomen in tribal dress. who was offering him food "You are a women aren't you ?". Electric cabling in some new building. "It looks like it's been put in by an Indian". etc etc. It wasn't until today after reading many, many quotes that I realised he spoke like this to people from all walks of life..it wasn't just racially motivated.

There are people who think they're being funny when infact what they're saying is, at best inappropriate and at worst utterly offensive. To highlight the breadth of individuals who have been at the receiving end of his 'jokes'..commonly referred to in our Press as 'gaffes' ..a misnomer if ever there was one..and another collection of views by those who have met him and tell a different story. It might not change minds .I think Jon's post (above)is valid but Rich's view has some merit too so I suppose the reality lies somewhere inbetween. He says these things because he can..because of his position.

Even the Queen is in the firing line.

To the Queen from the deck of Britannia in Belize in 1994, when she was was chatting to someone: "Yak, yak, yak; come on get a move on."

and...
https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/prince-philips-very-very-inappropriate-18815626

I watched a documentary several years ago and the narrator said that he was very rude to the Queen on occasions and once called her stupid whilst on a public engagement.

On a visit to Canada in 1969: "I declare this thing open, whatever it is."

To be honest I had to laugh at this one. Talking about Princess Anne and her love of horses: 'If it doesn't fart or eat hay, she isn't interested.'

His comments to all and sundry.: https://www.chinchillanews.com.au/news/prince-philips-90-most-excruciating-gaffes-and-jok/3174055/

I don't know what sort of publication Quora is apart from being in the US but here are people who see him in a different light.. https://www.quora.com/Is-Prince-Philip-as-rude-in-real-life-as-he-appears-on-the-television

However, when you read this one it's enough to make you favour the view of Tijuana taxi.

About a Cambridge student who didn't recognise him: "Bloody silly fool!"

what is the hidden agenda of those in the UK who scream "racist" to stifle any reasoned debate.
I don't think their agenda is hidden. Some people just don't want these issues discussed openly because they really don't want it mentioned that there is wrong on both sides.
