So, this happened today.

My JCW Clubman reached 40k miles.

Why is that important?

Well my last 5 cars have all been on PCP, none of which have lasted more than 30 months before I wanted a change. But I love this car, so much that when we sold the house in London to move to Wiltshire, we paid off the PCP so it became ours.

40k miles is a lot for me, I can't remember when I owned a car with that many miles on it. Previous the the last 5 cars was a Focus ST (2.5l) which we bought ex-demo. with 8k on the clock, and it got to about 25k with me.

40,000 miles and around 40,000 smiles to go with it. Yes, it runs a bit more than the stock 230bhp, amd the brakes are better, but it's pretty much the same car I picked up in January 2018. Here's to many more...

My first car was a white second hand Mini 1000 and my first new car was a russet brown Mini 1000. I think I did 78k miles in my Lotus Elan SE and high mileage wise other than that immediately before that Lotus I had a Montego as a company car and I did a few miles in that, 1.5k a week. That was the best (most reliable) company car I ever had.

I had a 4ltr Jag S Type I liked a lot. I sold it to a guy who owned a haulage company and one day just by chance I saw it on Autotrader and surprisingly it had done less miles than when I sold it :D

At one point I was doing 60k miles a year for work. As we replaced cars every 2 years or 40k miles, I was getting a new car at around 9 months, and the other sales guys would moan as I could be on my 3rd car when they were still on their first . Best car I had for al those monster motorway miles was a Citroen BX 1.9 diesel. So comfortable, quick enough, and was handy for towing my trailer mast I had at the time.
