Hello

I've been investing in some strobist gear of late unfortunately not only do all the light stands tripods and softboxes have nowhere to live in me tiny house causing cluttter but my youngest is fascinated with anything he's not meant to touch so to cut a long story short I bought a nice bag to keep it all in.

I have been looking for a decent bag for a while and wanted to find a non photographic one as they usually have £50-100 added on to the price tag.

In JJB sports today looking at sports bags for hockey etc and found a very good quality cricket bag by gunn and moore. Lots of compartments for all the bits and bobs, two main compartments one for the lightstands and tripod and the other for the softboxes etc... plus it's a slingshot style design which is handy.

EDIT: Dimensions 89x25x20 cm

How much???? £24.99 Bloody bargain I hear you shout....

OK I don't suppose anyone's interested but here are some photo's..

third and fourth photo's show the rear compartment with my main tripod and two light stands, note there are two pockets that seem to be made for the lightstands which leaves a nice space for the tripod. oh and it has a plastic insert between you and the rear compartment so nothing digging into your back.

That is a great little find.
I would go for it myself, but my stuff came in bags, and although this looks much more comfortable, im not sure id get all my stuff in.

Good bags those, will last you for a long time.

We have a few guys at cricket who have been using this type fo bag in it's previous incarnations for about 140 years it seems!

i like it and might have to pop into JJB.

I like all the compartments for each bit so it doesn't get lost.

thanks for sharing, I take it the underside is waterproof as well as the whole thing? do they do it in black?

cheers!

I think if you were travelling abroad you might have a problem, especially if you travel Ryan Air or EasyJet. They are definitely a no-no. But for the Uk its a great bag and a bargain. JR

Dimensions would be a useful addition.

If you want a real bargain CLICKY This is more than big enough for most peeps.

As an ex cricketer I can highly recommend using a cricket bag for this type of use.

My kit bag was trod on, had numerous beer type stuff spilled on, kicked in frustration (many times), thrown down steps, out of changing room windows and left outside in the rain (when rushing to the bar and forgetting about the bag.

Thanks for sharing folks, got some really good ideas there and you are so right about adding £ just because it's for photography.

I use cases from B&Q and Maplins for my MF gear and they are 1/3 of the price of proper photography ones. I only need them to store the cameras so I'm honestly not bothered if it is meant for tools, it keeps the dust off. :)

The dimensions have been added to the OP, thanks for the suggestion. I'm not sure why taking this bag abroad would be a problem? I would not try and pass it as hand luggage and there's nothing in it so fragile that you couldn't just check it in?? unless i'm missing something of course.

And yes it is quite a handy bag to have if not just for storage, I like this style over the holdall one compartment bags as it keeps everything separate and and has extra pockets for the nick naks...

i like it, it also hides the fact that there could be some pretty expensive gear inside, folk will thinks its just dodgy old cricket gear..... good find

Alib your linkies don't seem to point anywhere. I'm after a rugged case for storing all my lenses, flashes and body in whilst at home. Preferably something with lift out levels/shelves foe easy access. I would love to have sheets of foam cut out so all my gear fits perfect but I'm not sure how that could be done or if anyone knows a way or place that does it..

keeping my eyes on these as atm I only have one stand and it attaches to my cam bag nicely but when I get more kit this will be v useful
