I mark them all as junk, but it does not seem to reduce the number

are there any easy solutions?

It depends on your mail client and what you describe as 'junk'.

I'd say 99% of my emails are 'junk' but some of them I want to read sometimes. Others are spam, others are just odd.

Sorry can't offer any soutions.

Just checked my emails this morning. Since yesterday I have received 39 emails in my Inbox and 15 in the Junk. All of the 39 are either from people I know or companies I've dealt with. While I might not want the emails from the companies, I've given them my email address so I'm not bothered when they email me trying to sell things and I don't consider them 'junk'. 14 of the 15 in the Junk are also from companies I've used in the past so they are OK. Only one is real junk - it is trying to sell me a degree.

Think I must be lucky.

Dave

I used to get 1000's of spam email through our business email account every day. These are sent to an online ticketing system for customer support so filtering out the genuine emails from the junk was becoming a real pain in the arse.

I setup a gmail email account and redirected all of out business emails to our gmail account, from there they are redirected again to our ticketing system, but the nice thing is that Google has a brilliant spam filter which throws out all the junk before hand.

We still get the odd spam email slip through, but besides that out spam problems are solved.

Can't remember the last time a genuinely junk email got through to my inbox. I get a few marketing mails but only from companies I've given my address to.

I get loads of these "money" scams .......... ED things and many many others

I have my "own" domain

my email address is published on one of my sites

I can dealt with the publicity ones that I have given my email address to

Making the email address on your site an image will help stop harvesters collecting it. Anyone who wants to email you can read it and type it out themselves.

Few people bother though. Much easier to click on a "Contact Us" link than actually do something sensible!

I think I must be lucky as most of the emails I get are genuine and I only seem to get a few junk ones a week. I do look at them and "block" the really annoying ones but of course you can't stop them all.

I keep getting garbage from something called National Club Golfer. I hate f-ing golf. I report every last one as spam and mark them as junk and still gets through. It's infuriating. I have the spam score set to about 1 so anything above that (which is very, very strict) isn't even marked as spam. It's obviously spam and it just won't b****r off. I think I even desperately tried unsubscribe a while back and this crap still keeps getting sent.

Why can't we just impale spammers on rusty spikes? They're like the cold callers of the internet. They don't have any useful purpose.

I don't get much crap at all, to either email.

Used to to my old ISP e-mail address but now I use gmail and live instead and get virtually none that comes through.

I have my own domain and very rarely get crap-mail. GMail is my main general contact app and that is quite clean.

It is relatively cheap to get your own domain but if you do it is worth finding a company that will register your domain in their ^proxy^ name which keeps your name, address, phone etc off the registration.

Never used to get ANY, EVER, until I bought a downloadable Folk music album from TOPIC RECORDS. Get at least two or three a day, every day now, but only on the account I used for them.

using Thunderbird, you can make a ''filter'' so that all their emails are 'delete at the Server'...[other filter options available too]

so you only ever get just the initial one.......

I have filters. The bloody thing gets through even with their name in the from address. It's like the filter system just doesn't work. The spam delete doesn't work either. It is supposed to delete all messages over 3 days old but it doesn't delete a single one. Another thing that annoys me about thunderbird. It used to be a decent email client but now it just doesn't do what it is supposed to do.
