Hello all,
I am looking to upgrade my nikon 70-300 4.5-5.6 vr, I was thinking about a nikon 70-200 2.8,
would there be much in image quality, sharpness etc. between the vri and the vrii mounted on a d7200

many thanks

Dave

I cant help, but Im in the same position tbh, so interested in the answers.

What do you use the 70-300mm for, and how much time are you shooting on the 200mm to 300mm range.

I use the 70-300 for dog photography, racing and working dogs, I rarely use the 70-300 at the 300 end and was hoping with the 70-200 I could crop and still have good results

On a dx body I don't think you'd see much difference between the two. The vr2 deals with vignetting better and has better corners but these are really only fx issues. It does focus closer too if that's useful. Otherwise, I'd save a few quid and pick up a decent vr1.

Then yes, IMO the 70-200mm F2.8 is perfect on crop for that sort of work. You will see a sharper image especially when stopped down which will easily crop where needed.
