Hi guys,

Got a week off work coming up and want to have some new lenses to use for it....

Currently have a 40d, tamron 17-50mm f2.8 non VC, nifty fifty and tamron 70-300 f4-5.6.

I have a budget of about £300 and want to improve my kit.

I would love a 70-200mm f4L but is out of budget so may invest in an older ef 70-210 f4 as you can pick them up for under £100.

Does anyone have any suggestions for general use lenses that could help add to my/improve my kit????

All suggestions welcome!
Many thanks!

looks like a good lens - reading the reviews - if they are under £100 i think i would have one
then just need the 15-85 at the same price and i'm done

I had one many years ago and it was a useful lens for quasi-macro shots (butterflies etc). Focus was very slow and it wasn't too impressive towards the long end in the IQ stakes....worth £80-100 though.
I'd suggest looking at the EF 70-300 4-5.6 IS or the EF-S 55-250 within your budget....MPB have numerous copies of the first one and you'll get warranty too.

Thanks for your responses. Ive heard alot of gd things about the 55-250mm IS.

Im undecided as to get the 55-250mm IS and upgrade the 50mm to 1.4 ...
Or....
Just get the 70-200mm f4L

FWIW I recently traded in my 55-250mm for a 70-200mm f/4 L. I would do it again in a heartbeat - the difference in image quality is simply staggering.

I think I'll eventually upgrade to the IS version, which should be fine as the resale price on these lenses is strong, but for now I'm happy.

As bob says, the Canon 70-300IS or 55-250IS are certainly worth a look at...

If you can stretch your budget, the the 70-200F4 is a belter...
