Thinking of replacing my old 350D. I take mostly landscape and macro. I'm looking at the 60 & 650 as I feel the flippy screen will be handy for low down macro work. You thoughts and comments will be appreciated.
many thanks,
Steve.

Hi Stevie, no one knows what the spec's are of the future 70D / 7D2 so I would discard those for now. If I was buying a camera now I would be looking at the 60D. It represents excellent value right now.

I just brought the 60d, I just brought blind and ordered it without seeing it, it's light and I hated it when I first had it, compared to the other canon's I've had it felt like a play toy but it only took a few 'holds' of it to get used to how light and different, but I love it now as it is lighter

Hi Stevie

Like yourself I'm about to upgrade from a 450D to a similar level.

I took some test pics today in Jessops from a 500d and a 650d and the quality is massively improved - shooting with no flash at 1000-1600 ISO.

Its the one for me, as the pictures will look just as good as the 60d or 7d in most circumstances.

Not the 70d or 7d2. They don't exist.

Hi Steve and welcome, I've got a 60D as a backup to my 5D3 and I recently bought a 650D for the wife. TBH the 650D probably edges it on technology, better ISO, very good AF (specially for video), good fps rate, Digic5 processor and a great responsive touchscreen.

The 60D edges it on design and ergonomics though, for me anyway, as it has the top screen and second dial on the rear which makes it very easy for altering aperture in manual etc.

As you are upgrading from a 350D, which has a similar body to the 650D, you might be better off getting the 650D as you know the layout already. It has almost the same 18Mp sensor as the 7D, 600D and 550D but the 650D has the hybrid AF sensor which is obviously newer, and the new STM lenses work excellently with the 650D too and there's bound to be more coming out.

Personally if you take mainly landscape macro shots then I would be going full frame. 5D MKI still a good camera or 5D MKII depending on your budget and lenses.

I had the 60D over a year ago now and it produced some of the best photo's I had ever had over the years, however I found it to be very frustrating as the focus system was lacking when it came to tracking.

I moved over to the 7D about 12 months ago now and this is in a diferent class when it comes to my sports photography! I have had some stunning images from this camera and cant be more pleased with it. I have lernt more along the way on how to post process my images and that has made a lott of difference also!

Here's one I bagged last weekend with my 7D
