Hi Im not sure if this has already been posted but I am a final year art student using 5x4 colour film does any body know anywhere that i can get it developed over the Easter period that is not to extortionate ( I used to work in a photo lab and it really really shouldn't cost as much as it does). My final prints are going to cost about £400 (mounted 60x48 inch prints archival standard) each so any way of saving film costs would be amazing!

Anywhere is South Wales, London or Buckinghamshire would be great.

Cheers in advance

Photofusion is the only one I know of in London.

Never used them so cant comment on quality but if you've worked for a lab you'll know the questions to ask!

thanks for the quick answers! but anything less than £4.50 a sheet!

http://www.metroimaging.co.uk

they do it for £4.55 a sheet (just 5p more than you want..... though I suppose if its lots of sheets, then that cost does build up!)

I use this link:
http://www.richardnicholson.com/darkroom/

its a tog who as a "project" went around photographing londons remaining pro darkrooms. it doesn't have links but its the only "list" of darkrooms in London that I have found. From that I just go to google and search:)

i use trumps in Edinburgh for mine, with student discount is't £2.50 a sheet and over 40 sheets at a time comes to £2 a sheet... can't believe it's £4.50 or more elsewhere you would be cheaper doing it yourself by getting a paterson orbital from ebay etc and buying an E6 dev kit.

I agree, but as experience has shown me, setting up your own darkrroom is alot harder than you think!

I bought an entire dark-room kit from ebay (meopta enlarger, trays, lights, curtain etc.....) £60 quid. then, when I got it home, I realised there wasn't anywhere I could set it up!:lol::lol:

I live in a small flat, and the only *tiny* place that could be blacked-out and kept like that easily was the hall cupboard. but then there was no ventilation, it was full of stuff, and as we found out later, might have asbestos in it:eek:

one day...... still in london £4.00 can't buy you that much, so I suppose its worth it:lol:

If you want to develop yourself in London but don't have space for a darkroom, look at www.thecameraclub.co.uk

£99/year membership, £4/hour darkrooms, kitted out with enlargers, etc.

You get to lock yourself in a (well ventilated) darkroom, with chemicals, take your trousers off and dev/print all you like!

cheers for the linky!

but I think I will pass at the other suggestion, Im not into that max mosley stuff!

sorry, that was a mean joak:D

My Great-Granddad broke Oswald Mosley's nose at a Fascist Rally. The judge congratulated him.

Anyway, when locked in a confined space my first instinct is to take my trousers off. I think that's perfectly normal.
