5D Mark III Slow autofocus

Ive noticed that the last couple of events I have done using the Mark III, it struggles with focusing. The lighting isnt that bad and I have the 580exII attached with beam assist on...it lags and takes a second or two to focus...doesnt seem like a long time but it is when your trying to get several shots in quick succession....

never had this problems with the mark II...

anyone else experience this problem ??

What lens (lenses) are you using? What focus modes/points etc?

Not had a problem myself so far...
 
How is it without the beam assist?
 
either there is something wrong with the camera and you need to send it to Canon for a fix, or there is something very wrong with the lenses which would be obvious.

Obviously AI-servo will struggle in a very dark setting, but hopefully we are not discussing those situations
 
There are many reports out there that the 5D3 and 1Dx aren't too snappy when using AF assist. I tried it myself last night (1Dx v 1D4) and the 1D4 is certainly quicker by an abvious margin.
