580EX2 ETTL on camera and off camera flash?

Im wondering, is there a way to have my canon 580EX2 on the camera then fire an SB26 off camera at the same time?

I know that I can do it optically and use the SB26 ttl slave mode but I dont want tother people to trigger it so im using ebay triggers that have pc sync cords etc.

Im sure ive done it in the past but I cant seem to get it to fire.
 
Have a camera with a pc sync port?

Which triggers? If they dont have a pc port on the transmitter, then attach a pixel hotshoe to pc adapter to run off your cameras pc port.
 
I have the rf-602's

I plugged the trigger into the PCsync on the flash and now the trigger doesnt work. Crap I think ive blown it and I needed them for tomorrow :/
 
Take the battery out for five minutes, that seems to solve the problem of 602 transmitters not working.

The 580ex pc is input only, not output.

Dont have a pc socket on the camera I assume? If you do, run pc socket to pc socket on the camera/transmitter.
 
oh no I have the pc sync on the camera as its a 5dmk2. Thats how I must have done it before.

I'll leave the battery out and fingers crossed it will work but the light doesnt turn on at all and its never happened before.
 
the only thing is that it keeps happening and I have to keep taking the battery out for 5mins. before today that never happened. Ive tried a couple batteries and one of them is brand new. Frustrating to say the least.
