Yes
I did a shoot at a function last night and YES I suppose I should read the manual...:bonk:

Has this ever happened to anyone...

My 1 580 refused to fire with the shutter but test fired. The only difference I could see was that the C Fn icon showed bottom left hand side.

The other 580 that didn't show the C Fn icon worked perfectly. I frantically tried everything I thought would work but NOOO!!

Later it worked perfectly and with the C Fn icon still showing...:suspect:

Any Ideas?

You need to speak "Nikon" - I can't understand a word you've said!

custom functions 9 and 10 are both possibles

one is test firing and the other is modeling flash

Could you have knocked it into slave mode?

can't help further as my flash is the 430 and yours is better so

Hope you get an answer that helps :D

to be honest I had that as well once, and no I haven't read the manual either :embarrassed:

DF

Tried and checked all those and a GOOD LOT MORE

Freaky part is a while later the *$&^$@ thing worked like nothing was ever wrong

Maybe I did something to rectify it and I don't even know what...

Hiya DOD

I read the manual this morning and double checked all of both the 580's C Fns...

Have you checked the body's C Fns for flash sync speed (fixed or auto)?

Cheers
